RU Ready Workshop Series
Motivated by the disparities in emergency preparedness resources for BIPOC communities, Climate Crisis Connect (CCC) created a space for racialized youth from climate-vulnerable communities in Mississauga to enhance their climate readiness. Through a series of workshops hosted by BIPOC youth in local community spaces, the project gathered young people to learn about emergency preparedness and community resilience. Participants were empowered to take tangible steps to proactively make their homes and communities more climate-ready, while confronting climate anxiety and gaining valuable advocacy skills.

“CCC fills an environmental justice need in the City of Mississauga by engaging with youth and BIPOC residents that are often not a part of grassroots work. Many climate-related events and opportunities happen in Toronto, and CCC ensures that the suburbs have an outlet to get involved and learn with their community about sustainability, climate change, and emergency preparedness.”
